Family Supportive Services (FSS)
Case Management Services help our children’s families find resources in the community and funding for child care and other services. Staffed by licensed social workers, the Social Services Department works collaboratively with area hospitals and medical providers, social services, and educational programs to help these families stay together and be self-sufficient. Bryan’s House provides case managers for counseling parents helping them make plans, secure referrals and qualify for needed and available services.
Financial Education Classes help individuals learn how to manage their families’ finances. Our financial counselor coaches individuals in their efforts to achieve and sustain financial stability and self-sufficiency. We help our clients establish goals to improve their financial status and develop skills to reduce debt and increase assets.
Emergency Financial Assistance: On a limited basis, we make Emergency Financial Assistance available to current clients who have a child with special needs or an HIV-positive family member and are otherwise qualified. Our social workers document the financial emergency, review the family finances, and determine what aid is needed. Such emergency assistance for rent, utilities, or medications is paid to the provider – landlord, utility company, or pharmacy.
Parent Support Groups in English and Spanish allow caregivers to meet and share ideas while receiving emotional support. Staff members who speak a variety of languages make it possible to provide services for parents with limited English speaking ability.
Donated Goods Distribution provides essentials (food, diapers, formula, toys and clothing) to our families when they lack the means. We house items donated by the community, and our social workers determine their needs and make distributions accordingly.
Adopt-a-Child School Supply Program prepares children for the new school year by providing them with the requisite supplies. Donors can choose to adopt a child and fulfill a list of the child’s school supplies, or they can make a monetary donation that our staff, on behalf of the donors, uses tomake the purchases.
Adopt-a-Family Holiday Program helps families enjoy their holidays by granting them their three wishes over the holidays. Likewise, School and Holiday Adopt a Family programs help provide normalcy for client families without the means to celebrate. In both programs, donors can directly meet the needs of chosen families, or they can meet them by proxy donations through Bryan’s House staff.
